Donate your pre-loved furniture & household goods
You can donate your pre-loved, good quality furniture and household goods to the Furniture Projects at Newbury or Basingstoke. We collect bulky items for free for residents of West Berkshire and Basingstoke & Deane districts. By donating your goods you will be supporting the most vulnerable members of your communities as all proceeds support the wide range of projects operated by Newbury Community Resource Centre – a registered charity (1082243).

We accept almost all items of furniture including beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs, etc. as well as electricals, white goods and lighting, mirrors, pictures, kitchenware, books, bicycles and bric-a-brac.
All items must comply with current legislation otherwise we cannot sell them. It costs us to dispose of anything we cannot sell which means we have fewer funds to support local people.
We will gladly accept:
- Upholstered furniture which meets with the 1988 Fire Regulations and has a label attached which declares this or a label with a post 1988 manufacturing date.
- Clean mattresses which meet with Fire Regulations and have a label attached stating ‘Resistant’ with a symbol of a match or cigarette. Mattresses must be free of any stains.
- Working electrical goods with a CE label except tumble driers. We safety test all electrical items before we put them on sale.
There are other regulations we must comply with so please call us on 01635 43933 or fill out the Contact Form if you require any further guidance. We are happy to answer any questions.
Sorry, we do not accept:
- gas appliances
- tumble driers
- electrical appliances which are not working
- stained mattresses
- child car seats

We will collect large items free of charge if you live in West Berkshire or the Basingstoke & Deane District Council area. Complete the donations form by clicking the button below. Please upload photos of your item(s) with your form.

Drop off at Newtown Road Recycling Centre - West Berks residents only
You can drop off your items at our unit at Newtown Road Recycling Centre. Please note: if you are NOT a West Berkshire resident you will have to pay to use this facility. Book a slot on the West Berkshire Council’s website to visit the Recycling Centre by clicking the button below.
